Welcome to the NSWJRU Website. NSWJRU is the governing Union of Junior Club Rugby in NSW and is affiliated to NSWRU.

Together with its two member Unions, Sydney Juniors and Country Juniors, NSWJRU provides structured rugby competitions and representative programs for over 19,000 registered Junior Club players. The stakeholders of NSWJRU are the 12 Sydney Junior Districts and 7 Country Junior Zones.

NSW Juniors represents the largest community rugby group in NSW and is the largest and oldest Junior Union nationally. We take a leading role with policy development for Juniors, the provision of Junior Club Rugby Pathways and strongly encourage the values and traditions of our great game.

 NSWJRU 2012 STATE CHAMPIONSHIPS

Preparations on track for NSW Junior Rugby State Championships

Junior Club rugby players from NSW and ACT will once again come together to compete in the annual NSWJRU State Championships. The Championships is the biggest junior rugby carnival in Australia, held every year over the June long weekend. It is a massive 3 day event involving 7 venues across Sydney, Orange and Camden, with approx 2200 players and over 8000 parents and supporters attending. Over 100 volunteers run this carnival with strong support from Metropolitan Referee Associations, Sydney Junior Rugby Union, NSW Country Juniors and NSWRU.

2012 venues on 9 and 10 June are ;

Under 10’s North Narrabeen Reserve, Narrabeen
Under 11’s Barden Ridge, Menai
Under 12’s Camden Rugby Park, Wire Lane, Camden
Under 13’s North Narrabeen Reserve, Narrabeen
Under 14’s Orange Emus Rugby Union Club, Orange
Under 15’s TG Millner Field, Eastwood
Under 16’s St Lukes Concord
Under 17’s St Lukes Concord

Finals venue for age groups 12s-17s on Monday 11 June is TG Millner Field, Eastwood.
The U/10s age group is a tournament event with no finals and the U/11s this year will be held over the 3 days at Barden Ridge, Menai.

The State Championships bring together the Junior Club community from all over the state and beyond. Participating Junior Unions include 12 Sydney Districts, 7 Country Zones,  ACT Juniors and Southern Inland NSW.

The importance of this carnival is reflected by the presence of both ARU and NSWRU dignitaries who present trophies. Waratah players and Board members from both NSWRU and the ARU also attend and Tah Man will be making a special visit to the under 10’s age group. This is one of the most important Rugby carnivals each year anywhere in the country and continues to get bigger and better each season.

The first stage of the NSWJRU Representative Pathway begins with the Championships. To be eligible to participate, players must be registered and playing in regular club rugby competitions. Opportunities are provided for all junior club players to further their rugby aspirations and compete at a higher level. Selection into higher representative teams for 15, 16 and 17 age groups is based on players’ performance in this carnival.

The hallmarks of the Championships involve junior club players proudly wearing their district jersey, enjoying the game and contest, where friendship not only extends to team mates but opponents as well. The traditions and values of our game are very much evident at the Championships where the rugby community comes together to support their junior code.

Everyone connected or interested in junior rugby is welcome to attend.
